About Us

EUROPE-ISRAEL NETWORK is an Israeli non-profit dedicated to strengthening civil society engagement between Israel and Europe. Recognizing the untapped potential inherent in these relations, which suffer from mutual misperceptions, it leverages mutual interests and promotes shared values of justice, the pursuit of equality, and the protection of individual freedoms.

EUROPE-ISRAEL NETWORK is committed to cultivating interpersonal relationships and overcoming challenges currently threatening core democratic values. The connection between people prevails over any political disputes. We expose and cultivate hidden potential for civic cooperation, bridging gaps in understanding and common misperceptions among individuals, institutions, and nations; acknowledging that the European-Israeli partnership contributes to the wellbeing of people on all sides, and thereby fortifying the resilience of societies.

EUROPE-ISRAEL NETWORK promotes education and action to:
– Create platforms for action-oriented civic engagement between Israel and Europe, transcending obstacles such as language, culture and prejudice.
– Harness civil society to create frameworks incorporating civic leadership.
– Leverage partnerships for the service and wellbeing of the entire society.

Vision:
Establishing close and strategic ties between Israel and Europe, with the understanding that cooperation between citizens contributes to the social and physical resilience of societies and individuals on both sides.

A public campaign - 2022

Europe? Not what you thought.

We are pleased to launch this public campaign intended to inform young Israelis regarding the European Union and its contribution to Israel. Important information on economics, society, R&D, education, tourism, and the environment, aims to shatter conventional wisdom and to show that Israel and Europe have more in common than differentiating them from each other. We are grateful for the generous support of the Israeli Association for the Study of European Integration and the Friedrich Ebert Shtiftung in Israel.

Together, we will continue to strengthen Israeli society by means of strengthening its ties with Europe!

Area Of Expertise

Education

The seeds for the future lie in education. Therefore, we promote formal and informal collaboration, in order to expand and deepen dialogue and relationships. Our action emphasizes connecting generations of current leaders to future leaders, sharing heritage and culture, and developing joint opportunities.

Few frameworks today allow young people to learn about and get to know each other, directly and impartially, in a way that was common in the past, through youth movements, student exchange, and formal and informal education. Europe-Israel Network promotes activities with academic institutions, high schools, government agencies, grant providers, and other civil society entities.

Proper governance

Leaders are first and foremost human beings. Informal acquaintance and direct and impartial professional and social connections between Israeli and European leaders, enable creating a positive atmosphere, paving the way to mutually beneficial policymaking- taking the needs and limitations of the other into account, policies free of geographical and perceptual boundaries imposed by fear.

Deepening and expanding the circles of partnership between leaders and mutual learning from successful models for good governance – in civil society, in the business world and across the political spectrum – is a national task. Strengthening mutual knowledge and authentic acquaintance with the other, combined with sincere dialogue about common as well as conflicting interests, will reduce hostility and allow for cooperation and rapprochement.

Empowering women

Increasing the influence of women in all walks of life and throughout society strengthens its resilience and increases its humanity. Promoting significant female representation in key positions in society, government, business and social bodies is paramount: equal pay, cross-sectoral equality, bridging cultural gaps and religious traditions, uequivocal denunciation of violence against women and exploitation of their vulnerability.

All these and more will benefit from closer cooperation between Europe and Israel. Therefore, we partner with civil society organizations, government bodies, and businesses in order to raise the issue, motivate and promote female leadership, and produce joint ventures in Israel and Europe.

The environment

The threat to our existence is growing and so is the need to take more drastic actions in the areas of environment and energy. The European Union and Israel share common goals and are committed to the same international agreements, such as the Paris Agreement on climate change.

At the same time, there is a long way to go to the realization of goodwill, and leveraging of technological capabilities shared by Europe and Israel, to fulfill the task. We substantiate the discourse by joint activities between the European Union and Israel in the areas of clean environment, sustainable development, and renewable energy. Improving public awareness and leveraging of innovative Israeli-European solutions will help reduce damage in various areas: food, waste, the impact of climate change, fishery and oceans, and more.

Women Coping with the Covid-19 Pandemic in Europe and Israel
EUROPE-ISRAEL NETWORK works to reduce inequality suffered by women. In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, and far beyond it, there is another pandemic , by which women are stricken especially in Israel as in Europe. In collaboration with the German Hans Seidel Foundation, Europe-Israel Network works to combat violence against women and the inequality afflicting them.

We recently convened prominent leaders in the field from Israel, the European Parliament and Germany to share knowledge and discuss legislative processes and parliamentary action, for example the legislation recently passed in Israel regarding the prohibition of prostitution. For more details

The Europe-Israel Network will continue working among political echelons and civil society, for a lasting and mutually engaging Israeli-European partnership, to encourage cooperation, significant legislation and improved budgeting to improve the status of women.
Israeli-European cooperation on climate change in the urban environment
Israel and the European Union are interested in finding innovative ways to protect the environment and are committed to the same international agreements. For example, the climate agreement signed in Paris in 2015 deals with reducing greenhouse gas emissions, minimizing prevailing damages and financing greenhouse gas emissions by countries around the world. Defects prevent all parties from maximizing their contribution to each other and of course to themselves.

The Europe-Israel Network works, in collaboration with the German Hanns Seidel Foundation, to enhance collaboration and promote practical solutions in the areas of cooperation at city and state levels, among other things, by using existing technologies that have not yet been adopted, such as district cooling. The next event is scheduled for April 21, with experts and public figures from Israel and Europe attending. For more details and registration
